Dr. Jennifer Schneider



Jennifer Schneider, M.D. received her M.D. degree in 1994 from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington after graduating from Harvard College. She then went on to Stanford Medical Center where she completed a general surgery internship, an orthopedic surgery residency and additional training in hand and upper extremity surgery. She joined the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in 2001 and is board certified in orthopedic surgery. 


Dr. Schneider's professional interests include hand and wrist surgery. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. 

Dr. Schneider is married with a daughter and a son.
  She is active in the community volunteering  with the Palo Alto Schools and working with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  She plays tennis and soccer recreationally with her family.


Andrew Gutow, M.D., received his M.D. degree from the University of Michigan in 1990 after graduating from Dartmouth College with honors. He trained in orthopedic surgery at Yale University, and completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the University of Southern California / Joseph Boyes Hand Fellowship in 1996.


Dr. Gutow joined the Department of Orthopedics at the Palo Alto Clinic in 2004 from a faculty position in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, he was involved in resident and medical student education and served as the Hand Surgery Consultant to the University's Athletic Department.

He is board certified in both orthopedic surgery and hand surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

His professional interests include minimally invasive hand surgery and treatment of complex fractures of the upper extremity. Dr. Gutow has authored over 20 book chapters and articles related to orthopedic and hand surgery in scholarly journals. He is actively involved in educating other orthopedic and hand surgeons, lecturing at national meetings on such subjects as minimally invasive fixation of scaphoid fractures and wrist arthroscopy.

Dr. Gutow and his wife, an internal medicine physician, have three children. As a family they are active in bicycling, sailing and attending youth sports activities
